All Hands
Well the first 2 days on the ship have been pretty interesting. It’s been a pain in the ass to come all the way out here just to check on board and then head back to San Diego but it has also been good to get my feet wet and see the ship and where I will be working and meet the people that I will be deploying with in a few months. I only wish I had more time to get settled. It doesn’t look like I am going to be able to find a place before I have to leave on Sunday and even if I could, there is no way I could sign a lease and get moved in. I also need to buy a car because you can’t do anything around here without one. I might put off that decision in light of the schedule that I was informed of.
Last night I met up with one of my friends from the school I completed in San Diego. He invited me over and I hung out with his wife and kids. He even let me stay over and get off the ship which was great. It’s awesome to know at least one person here that I can hang out with off the ship. Today is Friday and should be my last working day before heading back to San Diego for the next month and then off to Florida for a visit home. I am genuinely excited about being here but also about as nervous and stressed as I have ever been. There are not a whole lot of people to talk to on board yet so I have a feeling I will be blogging a lot more anytime I am on board.
Time for morning quarters. See ya soon!
